Jean's Story...

Jean's life hasn't exactly been perfect.  She grew up dirt poor in the alleyway of a Cygnarian city many miles from Northwood.  Her father was killed in battle against the Khadorians, and her mother became so distraught that she abandoned Jean who was still in her infancy.  She spent time in an orphanage but ran away at the age of 10, living the next couple of years in the streets.  She stowed away with a merchant caravan which made a stop at Northwood.  A curious merchant noticed some movement amongst the goods in a wagon and discovered her.  However, this was the most important day of her life as that merchant, Mr. Holloway, took her in as one of his own children.  Since then life is looking up for Jean (Halloway).

Blaxley's Story...

Blaxley(Tom Blaxley) runs the local lumber mill on the outskirts of the village.  A few years ago he bought the operation from Rogan, who thought he was gouging young Blaxley. However, with new, steam-powered "lumber 'jacks"(heh, heh), Blaxley was able to turn the mill into a much more profitable business.

Wilmar's Story...

Wilmar was once a young lad known for his charm, wit, and handsomely flowing long locks....that was a long time ago.   Now sporting a bald head, he uses his skills as a barber to style the hair of young men.  Though his hairline has receded(dissipated) he still is know for his kindness and good nature.  When not attending to a customer, he likes to stand outside his shop smoking his archaic pipe and handing out a genuine "hello" to every passer-by.  Wilmar is the leader of the town merchant guild.

Trin's Story...

Bread, pastries and other crumbly delights- this is Trin's specialty.  When Trin was a journeyman baker, working in a master's shop, he was already, in truth, an expert.  However, his master resented that everyone came into the bakery and asked for Trin's goods,rather than his employer's.  Ever spiteful, the master vowed never to deem Trin ready to present a masterpiece to the guild, while continuing to capitalize on his skills.  On his deathbead, his master had a change of heart and not only deemed Trin a master, but gifted him his bakery.  Now his baked treasures are enjoyed by everyone in the quiet Cygnarian town of Northwood.

Zed's Story...

Zed was once a the proud owner of a small mercantile shop in a town near the border.  However, Trollkin raiders put his home to the torch.  In an act of bravery he grabbed his long gun and killed two of the raiders, but he was knocked unconscious by a third; believing him to be dead, he was left alone.  When he awoke he found his house was a smoldering ruin and his wife and child were no longer alive.  He has spent the decade since a broken man.  Once a proud and established merchant, now he begs for scraps and travels from town to town.  It is a sad tale indeed- but perhaps with the right act of kindness he could again find his way back to prosperity.

Jageline's Story...

Born to serve, Jageline was the daughter of a butler and a maid...servants of the noble Landsmed family.  Now, three generations of masters later, she continues in service to the same household as her parents did.  Her mother and father had an agreeable relationship with their employer, and Jageline enjoys the same positive regard.  In fact, she is so appreciated that Neville Landsmed has offered to purchase her land, a home, and a servant to call her own through her twilight years.  She has refused, choosing to continue her life of loyal service to the end.

Hilda's Story...

Hilda is the wife of a farmer, and her strong work ethic matches that of her agrarian husband.  Attending to the livestock and the fields, she is an equal partner in the family business.  Though she never had any children of her own, many of the local children(such as Toby) frequent her for she is known to hand out candied corn and sugar sticks.  Her stern appearance and hasty manner belies a gentle heart within.

Devin is a refugee in Eastern Cygnar.  He was part if a Laellaese resistance group that was ambushed by Khadorian soldiers- he was the only man in his unit to survive.  He fully intends to return to his homeland and aid the insurrection once his wounds are healed.

Ella's Story...

Born and raised in Eastern Cygnar, Ella has known nothing but a provincial life since birth.  She dreams of a life beyond the confines of her village but her reality is confined to the domestic chores her parents assign her.  Her family is of meager means, but she has never known want other than to be liberated from her humdrum existence.

Emma's Story...
Emma the Milkmaid(don't dare call her that to her face!) works for the town dairy master.  She delivers milk to most everyone, but rarely with a smile.  Whether she's annoyed by flirting farmboys or pompous aristocrats, she laments her daily trek around town.  Most of the townsfolk are overly polite upon her deliveries, for her sensitive temper is known to almost everyone.

Ivan's Story...

Ivan is well known to the town and yet a mystery at the same time.  His affinity for drink is common knowledge, and he is rarely without a Cygnarian Whiskey of imported Rhulic Ale.  He speaks with a Khadorian accent, and an old story says that he was dishonorably discharged from a Winter Guard unit many years ago.  The story goes that he left Khador in disgust and found himself in Eastern Cygnar.  What no one can explain is why he seems to have endless funds to expend at the tavern with no visible means of income.  The most suspicious townfolk believe his drunken state is a cover for espionage.

Toby's Story...

Toby is a cheerful, six year-old lad who makes almost everyone smile.  He loves to ride his toy horse, "Kraye", and pretend he is going off to war with the Cygnarian cavalry.  He even chases poor(and often disoriented) Ivan down the alleys and side streets of the village in his never-ending campaign.  His father is a baker who looks forward to making his son his apprentice one day, but deep in his heart, he knows that Toby's young dreams will likely take him elsewhere in life.

Tiny Townsfolk: Mission...

This being the inaugural post of Tiny Townsfolk blog, I want to lay out what I see as the mission of this blog.  As an avid miniatures gamer(primarily Warmachine by Privateer Press), I love the idea of scenario-directed games.  With that in mind, I love the many "civilian" and "townspeople" minis available for common gaming scales(25mm to 30mm), and they can facilitate some wonderful objective-oriented games(or modded games).  My goal and mission is to use this blog to display the great variety of figures out there that are suitable for this purpose...thus, "Tiny Townsfolk".

As I am mainly a steampunk/high fantasy player, that's the type of townsfolk you'll be seeing here.  They will vary between 25mm to 30mm in scale, but all will be suitable for most games in that range.    I will always specify the manufacturer's listing for the figure(including catalog code) as well as a pic.  I will also add some "fluff" of my own invention(just for fun) that fits the Iron Kingdoms setting for Warmachine.
